The Rutgers Against Hunger 2014 Adopt a Family Campaign!

We are happy to announce that the Extension Division will be sponsoring a family for Rutgers Against Hunger 2014 Adopt a Family campaign.  We encourage our staff, faculty and families to help in whatever way they can.  Donations typically include nonperishable foods and other needed items, such as toiletries, baby supplies, and clothing items.  I’ve detailed the specific items the family has requested below.  We will have a collection box in our office for any items; donations will be collected through the beginning of December.  Any level of support is greatly appreciated!

Family Profile:

  • Family of 4; Single Mother with a daughter, 15, a son, 9 and 1 grandson, aged 12 months
  • Sons’ hobbies include playing soccer, painting (would love a paint brush and paints!) and toy cars

Grocery requests:

  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal
  • Granola bars
  • Pasta
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Boxed potatoes
  • White rice
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Beans
  • Canned tuna, chicken or salmon
  • Canned fruit
  • Baby food
  • Gift cards to: Wal-Mart, ShopRite, Target

Additional Items Requested:

  • Winter coats (2x Ladies large, boys size 10; boys size 12 months)
  • Winter boots (Ladies size 8)
  • Sneakers (boys size 1)
  • Winter hat and gloves
  • Any clothing items (ladies size 9; ladies large or size 13-14; boys medium or size 8-10; size 12 months)
  • Any baby items – blankets, toys, towels, socks, pajamas
  • Comforter/blanket/sheets (Queen size)
  • Plates, silverware, drinking glasses
  • Toiletries – body spray, hair gel, hairspray, blow dryer
